Immunofluorescence

Two stages of developing embryos were stained with florescent molecules and antibodies to observe different tissues. DAPI (4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole) stains cell nuclei a fluorescent blue. Phalloidin binds to actin and was therefore used to stain muscles cells. Phalloidin stains bright green and the brightest areas are the ones with the most muscles tissue. Antibodies raised against serotonin were used to stain nerve cells, but unfortunately the cells were not visible, possibly because of the thickness of the embryos.
